Olin news Vol. XIX, No. 3 As delicate as cameo in its wooded setting, the Shortia was a botanical drop out for decades, the object of lifelong searches. All the while it was growing abundantly in Toxaway country, and lately has been transplanted successfully to the Brevard area. Christie McGee points to the patch of Shortia which Robert R. Bolt, employee compensation manager, planted in a shady moist location near his home. It came into bloom in late March. Christie is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McGee of Hendersonville Highway. Her father is technical consultant in the Film Division Technical Department. (Story on page 4) HAPPINESS Is A Thing Called PICNIC ★ JULY 4 NARCO AND REDIGO WIN FOR OLIN The NARCO and REDIGO companies were top award winners for their performance in the fifth annual Junior Achievement program in Transyl vania County. Both companies were advised by Olin employees. Awards were presented at the BLOODMOBILE A total of 121 pints of blood were donated during the Bloodmobile visit May 14 in the Medical Center, according to Fritz J. Merrell, Tran sylvania chairman of the American Red Cross. Donors were scheduled by shop stewards and departmental super visors in the first Company-Union effort supporting the Red Cross blood program. There were 134 vol unteers for the one-day visit. Advisors of NARCO Company, judged Com pany of the Year in the Junior Achievement program of 1972-73, are commended by Jack Johnson, president of the board of June, 1973 Futures Unlimited banquet in Brevard College cafeteria May 8, climaxing the experiences in the free enter prise system the approximately 90 participants had enjoyed since the program began last fall. Advisors of the winning com panies were: John Collins, George Reynolds, Lindsey Walters and Lee Weinstock, NARCO; and Warren Cline, Luther Norton, David Seuss and Tom Thomas. REDIGO.
